October 19, 2017 – The Pueblo of Sandia is proud to step up once again and help in the disaster relief for the victims of the
recent hurricanes that hit the United States. Previously with the devastation from Hurricane Katrina, the Pueblo of Sandia
donated $1,000,000 to emergency relief. Now the Pueblo of Sandia is donating another One Million dollars to the
American Red Cross disaster relief fund. This time the Pueblo of Sandia is making a total of three donations to the
American Red Cross; $500,000.00 for Hurricane Harvey, $250,000 for Hurricane Irma and $250,000 for Hurricane Maria.
“Disasters like these create a need for funds and we are very proud to be able to provide assistance in this time of need” explained Governor Montoya.
The Pueblo of Sandia owns and operates several thriving enterprises including Sandia Resort and Casino to help create a
broad economic base to ensure its financial future as a self-reliant Tribe. The Pueblo of Sandia currently employs over 2,000
residents of the Albuquerque area. Moreover, the Pueblo significantly contributes to the state economy through salaries,
goods and services purchased.
