How to play Pai Gow

Pai Gow Poker is an American invention using the ancient Chinese title game of Pai Gow coupled with American poker.

How to Play: Every player places his or her bet in the betting circle. Each player receives seven cards, which is determined by random digital read-out or a roll of the dice to see who receives the first set of cards. The dealer is always 1, 8 or 25 numbered clockwise and passed out counterclockwise. Wagering is closed once the 1st hand-out is determined.

The game is played with a single 52-card deck plus one joker as a wild card. The joker can be used as an ace or as any card to complete a straight or flush. Every player coordinates his seven cards into a 5-card high hand and a 2-card second high hand hands are set by standard poker rankings with the exception of the second highest straight being A, 2, 3, 4, 5.

A player's 5-card hand must out-rank their 2-card hand. For example if the 2-card hand is a pair of kings, then the 5-card hand must beat a pair of kinds. Each player compares there hand to the banker's. If both hands beat the banker the player wins. If the banker beats both hands the player loses. If the player and the banker "split" (1 winning had apiece) then the player "pushes" and no money is exchanged. If a player's hand is exactly the same as the banker's (this is called a "copy") the player loses.

The designated button rotates clockwise and any player may take a turn being the dealer/banker. Player may not bank two consecutive rounds.

Banker's Rules:
The option to bank will be set according to house rules.
A 5% commission is paid on all winning bets.
The house will bank according to house rules.

General Rules:

Players are not to show other players their hand or discuss them. English is the only language to be spoken once cards are in play. The dealer will be happy to set the player's hand for them. However, the dealer must advise the setting of the hand the house way.
